Still considered the authoritative guide for the Postal History of the Cape of Good Hope. Copies do crop up at auctions. If you do not have this book, try and buy one.
Allis, G.J., Cape of Good Hope – its Postal History and Postage Stamps, 1930, (Stanley gibbons Ltd.).
Allis book in my opinion is the best treatise on the stamps of the Cape of Good Hope. His research was carried out on mostly original sources in various archives. Excellent coverage for both the Cape Triangualr stamps as well as the Cape rectangular stamps.

Stevenson, A.D., The Triangular Stamps of the Cape of Good Hope, 1950, (H.R. Harmer).
If you specialize in Cape Triangular stamps and looking for plating studies and varieties, Stephenson provides more information than any of the previous sources. However, I have found the book difficult to read and follow sometimes. Good illustrations.

Hagen and Naylor have thouroughly collected railway stamps and postal history for the whole of southern Africa. Their book describes in detail all aspects of the railway postal history of South africa. Good sections on the Cape of Good Hope. A must for the serious collector in this area.
